I support you in your appreciation of this movie. Even though it’s a bit heavy handed, the imagery is fun and it’s saved by a really talented cast (William h Macy, Jeff Daniels, a young Toby McGuire, Joan Allen and Don Knotts). And that’s not even the whole list.

F - MJH (Clarrissa will explain it all)

It’s way overdone for most of it, but it was the 90s and the kids weren’t all right. I don’t necessarily like some of the morals of the story, the mom ending with Jeff Daniels’ character is always awkward for me because I don’t want to cheer for a marriage to end. But it’s hard to not laugh at lines like, “Those were Whitey’s cookies, Bud!” or “Everybody really likes you, George. And it’s not just ‘cause you’re a good bowler. It’s ‘cause people respect you!”
